The Strategy is lightweight, durable, compact, and comfortable enough to be carried into the office or ready for off-grid adventure. Designed by custom knife maker Mike Wallace, the Strategy features a 3.5” clip point blade made from German K110 (D2) steel for outstanding edge retention and toughness. The ergonomic peel-ply Carbon Fiber / G-10 handle was designed for ideal comfort and grip, with the light-catching elegance of carbon fiber. The Strategy is outfitted with our signature ambidextrous fold-over deep carry clip and stainless steel caged bearings with flipper opening for incredibly smooth and rapid deployment.

K110 Steel

Made with Bohler K110 (D2) steel sourced from Germany. K110 offers high wear resistance along with good hardness and toughness, making it an excellent steel for everyday carry pocket knives like the Strategy. Our K110 steel has a Rockwell Hardness of 59-60.

S35VN Steel

Crucible Particle Metal (CPM) S35VN is a USA made, high-end stainless steel that provides an excellent balance between toughness, corrosion resistance, and edge-retention. It is recognized as a premium steel due to its durability and remarkable wear resistance. Our knives with S35VN steel have a Rockwell Hardness of 60-61.

Handle Materials

G-10: An epoxy-filled woven glass fiber that is a tried and true material for knife handles due to its strength, durability and light weight.

Peel Ply Carbon Fiber / G-10: Carbon fiber weave layer laminated to G-10 for durability and light weight.

6061-T6 Japanese Aluminum: This Aluminum has has one of the highest yield and tensile strengths of all aluminum alloys.

Titanium: Titanium is ideal for high-end, high-performance knives because it is both lightweight and has a high strength-to-density ratio.

Stainless Steel Caged Bearings

Equipped with stainless steel caged bearings for silky smooth, lightening fast opening action.

The ambidextrous, stainless steel deep carry pocket clip wraps around the handle for a modern, sleek appearance. No matter which way you equip it, the trough and screw holes that enable the clip to be reversed are concealed.

My knife collection has grown to include the Solstice and now the Strategy as well!
I was looking for something special, unique and elegant when I found the Ocaso lineup. Then I found out the designer is a local from my hometown, then I discovered they manufacture they’re products in Taiwan which to me is as good as USA standards and practices if not better, debate me if you want.
The Strategy just fits my hand flawlessly, like it was molded for it. It’s got some weight to it but just the right amount. As far as I can tell, nothing was left unthought of when this knife was put together. It’s a beautiful piece and tool. Incredibly sharp and well balanced. If you want an affordable EDC knife that is also a beautiful piece of art, Ocaso is the way.

Beautifully designed, elegant knife. The new German D2 steel is a very versatile material. I’m a happy owner of one of the best knives of my extensive collection.

First Real EDC

My first two American names, China built attempts at EDC were disappointments. I increased my budget & research to land on Ocaso. The offered what I was looking for, elegance, quality, & affordability, three virtues one rarely finds packaged in a weapon. The Strategy is sleek yet sturdy, light but substantial, affordable & bouchie.

I also picked up a Blue Damascus Solstice that is exactly what I envisioned a Gentleman's blade should offer. Elegance, ultra light construction, slick operation, & wicked sharp. Not an EDC, but uniquely able to perform tight cuts others can't reach. Their clips are the best for concealment.

Ocaso is now my gold standard that I will judge all future knife purchases against, including their new models. The fact that they don't use China to manufacture was also a big factor. I hope they continue to offer these beautiful knives, I like their style.
